Job Description The Great Basin College Career and Technical Education Department seeks a broadly trained Diesel Technology expert to complement its existing teaching faculty. The position will be based at the Elko campus, with some travel within the service area required. This is a tenure track B Plus position. The "B Plus" contract is for teaching an extended year program, slightly longer than the traditional two semesters. This is to accommodate a condensed, one-year Associate degree program. The position will start on April 1, 2018. Qualifications: Graduate of a certified Diesel trade school is minimum, Associate's degree or higher is preferred Minimum of five (5) years' experience in mining related equipment repair & maintenance ASE Master Certified as Medium/Heavy Truck Technician preferred Teaching experience in a community college or technical field is preferred Experience with mobile heavy equipment hydraulic systems is required Responsibilities: Teach hydraulic systems as related to mobile heavy equipment Teach all aspects of heavy equipment repair and maintenance Participate in diesel advisory board meetings Travel may be required to provide contract training throughout northeastern Nevada May be required to teach evening or distance education classes Participate in college committees as assigned Advise students in Career and Technical Education programs Develop and update curriculum to keep Diesel program current Attend professional development training Salary: Annual Salary is $42,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience and education.
