The Loss Control Senior Specialist provides leadership and direction in HSLP programs to achieve zero harm.
Essential Duties 13;
:Coordinate with Compliance Reps and Specialists throughout the state in identifying common potential violations that impact the entire regions.
:Provide support to site operations personnel in ensuring adequate resources, equipment, and personnel are provided to address HSLP issues.
:Work with state, federal and local authorities to ensure regulations are reasonable and that compliance to regulations are met.
:Audit all assigned areas for HSLP compliance requiring knowledge of both company policies and procedures and MSHA regulations.
:Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
:Maintain knowledge of changing regulations. Identify areas requiring change, ensuring necessary modification and followup.
:Ensure that MSHA and state inspections are properly coordinated for regulatory inspections operations.
:Participate, develop and support defense of citations that are appealed in regulatory or legal venues.
:Anticipate, track and evaluate regulatory changes and help management prepare for such changes.
:Develop Action Plans and responses to Findings of Alleged Violations and Notices of Violations.
:Coordinate and assist management in the development and implementation of compliance programs.
:Coordinate internal and third party auditing and assessment of compliance programs.
:Assist management and supervisors in correcting compliance issues when found.
:Assist in development of annual compliance goals for site HSLP managers.
:Manage the site citation database and ensure it is updated and accurate.
:Develop Actions plans in response to Schedules of Compliance.

Training and Experience 13;
:Bachelors Degree in a related field and 8 years experience or 11 years equivalent experience in HSLP related disciplines. e.g. safety, hazardous materials management, emergency and rapid response, industrial hygiene, occupational health and risk management. Minimum of 1 year experience in applying the Newmont Loss Causation Model Mining experience is preferred. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
:Non:full time experience but formal participation of at least a year within the past three years prior ing for the position will be considered for inclusion in related experience.
:Emergency response activities, including but not limited to: fire fighter, emergency response team membership (work or public), Ambulance attendant, hazardous materials technician, formal safety committee membership. (Up to two years of equivalent experience can be earned by participation in several of these activities).
:One month per year experience in a Mining operations or maintenance position for up to one year total credit of related experience.
:Profession Certification: The candidate can be awarded additional credit for professional certification in HSLP related management such as. CSP, CIH, ASP, CHCM, OHST, CSS, CSM, CMSP.
