SUMMARY

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of power plant and all associated equipment in accordance with procedures, guidelines, and operating directives in effect. Perform multi-skilled operations duties and responsibilities. Has the ability to perform operational duties including all associated plant and well field responsibilities. Trains and guides less experienced operations personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned as needed)

Adheres to, supports and complies with all company safety and environmental policies and practices. Ensures all employees, contractors and visitors conduct themselves safely and within company policies and regulatory guidelines.
Understands and follows proper procedures for control and shipment of all hazardous waste streams.
Under the supervision of the O&M Technician I conducts activities at the power plant, including startups, shutdowns, load changing operation on the plant, controls all auxiliary equipment systems and supporting equipment.
Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions. Computes and reviews various logs and reports regarding flows, pressures, temperatures, levels and other information. Communicates with shift changing plant personnel to confirm equipment status, load schedule and changes.
Monitors all parameters of the power plant for trends and abnormalities. Under the supervision of the O&M Technician I, corrects abnormal conditions when found. Reports abnormal conditions to the O&M Technician I.
Maintains the plant area, shop equipment, tools and grounds in a clean and safe condition at all times.
Takes immediate corrective action in response to emergency situations to minimize safety hazards and to reduce damage or downtime to the plant and its equipment.
Performs corrective, predictive, and preventive maintenance as directed on electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and/or water systems. Compiles records and reports, and maintains a daily log of instrument readings.
Operates various pieces of heavy equipment, such as forklifts, mobile cranes, machine tools and electrical test equipment in the performance of maintenance activities.
Reads, interprets, and implements technical information such as electrical drawings, manufacturer’s data, and operating and maintenance procedures.
Trains to improve personal skills and the skills of co-workers related to the job and/or required advancement.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred but not required
Completion of applicable technical or vocational training, including completion of all required web base training and O & M Technician III qualifications;
Or equivalent combination of education and experience; 1-3 years power plant operations experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical equipment, systems construction, capacities limitations, theories of operation and operating procedures.
Knowledge of plant design and equipment locations, valve configurations, and normal range of flows, temperatures, levels, etc, for common production levels.
Safe use of tools, plant safety rules, probable causes of equipment and systems malfunctions.
Knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
Basic knowledge of water chemistry and electrical test equipment and troubleshooting.
Basic to intermediate computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS


English language fluency sufficient to: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions; procedure manuals; prints and engineering data; interpret charts, graphs and gauge scales; troubleshoot equipment and system problems; and interface with others. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, use a radio, and be able to speak effectively before groups of people.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee is required to work a rotating shift with normal shifts up to 12 hours per day. The employee is expected to work overtime as needed. The work schedule may require the operator to work alone for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme heat; extreme cold; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and on occasion can be very loud.

The project is remotely located near Beowawe, NV and the employee will be responsible for reporting to the project location without additional compensation for transportation.
